I've shared tips before and you can find them on this blog, Facebook or YouTube but this time I want to go over my absolute favorites!

I've mentioned a ton of tips and the point isn't to use them all. It's about finding solutions that work for you! So please don't let all these tips and tools overwhelm you. They really aren't meant to be used by one person in one day but rather tools you can pick and choose from to be your best you.

Sometimes my brain is like kittens on red bull and I need help staying on task. Focused.

This week my brain is all over the place. I'm having a hard time focusing which in turn leads to procrastination. Which is a great segway to my first tool!

A Humble Timer.

The key here is to pick one that does NOT tick. Ticking just feels like a time bomb. Don't add anxiety to your tasks, go for the silent timer. I use this in different ways.

If you're like me, getting off track, (Facebook anyone?), in order to stay on top of work I set my timer for 20 minutes. At the end of the 20 minutes, I ask myself if I've stayed on task. I'm not always.

Now 20 minutes is simply my personal sweet spot. My assistant (who helps me write the blog posts) she prefers 15 minutes. So it's all about how you work. Keeping it short is the key. An hour is probably too long for the average adult.

An ADD ADHD adult that suffers from hyper-focus can benefit from these short bursts of productivity.

          Now...Where was I?

          Kidding.

Yucky tasks, those horrible frogs. This is another brilliant time to pull out the timer. The nudge we need to get started. After all, you can do anything for 20 minutes, right? Usually, once I get started, the timer goes off and I find that just getting started was all I needed to complete the yucky task that had been looming over my day.

So yeah, we're in love with our timers (that DO NOT tick) here at Suzanna Kaye Organizing. The video expands on our love a bit more but you have to actually watch the video to discover how and what

            Distraction Notebook!

Our next time management tool is genius. We all have days where we're super scattered. The little gerbil running on a wheel in our head has hopped off and entered a crazy maze. When this happens how do you focus? How does work get done? Right?!
            Enter the Distraction Notebook

Just a tiny little thing. Nothing big here. Doesn't need to be fancy. It's just for brain dumping distractions. You're supposed to be working on x but wandered over to the super important y? Yeah, you've already decided y is not a priority for the day so put it in your distraction notebook, reset your timer and get back to what's important. Easy!

            Whew.

This is also a great tool on the nightstand for those nights you've got stuff rolling around in your brain that need a place to rest so you can sleep. Write them down in your distraction notebook and get to sleep! The next morning either complete them quickly or schedule them appropriately.

            JUST ONE THING!

Sometimes I have a hard time feeling I've accomplished anything. When that happens I have the "if I can only accomplish ONE THING today it will be..."  I've made this into a thing. A frame with glass and a magic erase pen. As I prioritize my day I put the most important task of the day in the frame. I pick something that can, in fact, be completed. It defeats the purpose if it's a week-long project. If that's what you're working on, break it into chunks and put the most important chunk on your frame.

Now, at the end of the day, having accomplished what was THE MOST IMPORTANT, I have a reason to celebrate. This is life changing. A way to encourage yourself! Giving myself a reason to celebrate ultimately helps me stay energized and focused to start fresh tomorrow. It's a win-win!

Plus on the days where I'm super scattered and fearing that I didn't accomplish much, I can look to my, "JUST ONE THING" and feel more grounded and settled.

            Seriously, Do This!

            This is a game changer.

            Have a wonderful week beautiful!
